Black Opal Productions is dedicated to creating a vibrant, inclusive space where artists of all backgrounds can learn, grow, and thrive. Founded by an experienced musician and educator with a background in music performance, composition, film scoring, sound design, and music for dance, the studio offers voice, songwriting, and music technology lessons that blend academic training with real-world industry experience. Whether virtual or in-person, Black Opal Productions strives to inspire creativity, build confidence, and help each student discover and develop their unique artistic voice.
A bit about Kalyn...
Kalyn Harewood is a Barbadian American composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in the Chicago area. With a background in vocal performance and a Master’s in composition, her emotionally rich music spans film, podcasts, dance, and self-released albums. Known for her skill in melody, harmony, and sound design, Kalyn uses music as a tool for storytelling and social change. Kalyn owns and operates Black Opal Productions out of which she produces music, teaches voice, songwriting, and music tech.
